The Deal: A Secret Snippet

Marilyn and Jesse are on their way. If you’re on VIP, you’ve already seen this.

If not…I hope you ENJOY.

M and J’s twisty brother’s best friend’s romance is coming to you on APRIL 24TH, 2019. And it’s going to be a ride.

A hand, large and warm, falls on my lower back, circling the skin above my dress.

I turn.

“Back already?”

But it isn’t Andy. Not even close.

His green eyes give him away.

Eyes the color of jagged pine prick my skin in a thousand different places all at once.

I suck in a shuddering breath.

Jesse.

“We need to talk,” he almost growls. And my eyes can’t believe what they’re seeing. My hand lands on his chest in surprise, and I feel the heat of his body even through his shirt. His body is a flame. I’d back away just to avoid being scorched, but I’m drawn to him. As always.

A splash of red decorates the tanned skin at his neck, hiding a peek of dark ink. Broad black strokes peek beneath the collar of a white v-neck t-shirt stretched across his wide chest, and the normally calm lawyer pulls me in close—close enough to see the beginning of a hidden tattoo.

I swallow, suddenly forgetting how to breathe, as he inches nearer, whispering in my ear.

“Did you think I wouldn’t know?” he rasps harshly.

My heart thunders. “Know what?”

“Come off it, Mare. You thought I wouldn’t find out?”

“Find out what?”

Words are failing me. I can’t form complete sentences with him this close. Touching me. His hand wrapping around my waist.

Jesse leans in, nearly bringing his lips to the tip of my reddened earlobe.

“I know what you did…”

Shit. I bite my lower lip.

That damn Andy spilled the beans.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I bluff.

“No, I know you know exactly what I’m talking about…”

His green eyes virtually smolder, and my carefully waxed legs go secretly weak at the knees.

And for the first time in my life, I can’t tell if the crazy little tremble is out of fear… or something much darker. Deeper. Wetter…
